All applications should be submitted by a coach, teacher, counselor or principal and are due by March 4, 2022.

The letter of recommendation should attest to why the nomineeвЂ™s behavior, attitude, desire and character warrant this scholarship.

All submissions must include: the completed nomination form, a copy of the studentвЂ™s high school transcripts and a letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach or counselor.

Has a strong commitment to setting and reaching life goals.

Demonstrated leadership ability and demonstrated personal responsibility.

Demonstrated athletic achievement and participation in organized sports.

Has overcome personal obstacles and troubles in life associated with drugs or alcohol.

High school senior who will enroll in either a two- or four-year college.

Recipients will be required to keep in periodic communication with the SDSA, to report on their progress.

Eligible expenses include college tuition, books and on-campus housing.

Scholarship recipients who remain in academic standing following their first year of college will earn an additional $6,000 scholarship for their second year of college.

Additionally, scholarship recipients will receive a laptop computer from Computers 2 Kids San Diego. A second scholarship of $6,000 can also be earned, provided the recipient remains in good academic standing following the first year of college, for a total possible scholarship award of $12,000. The Brad Fowler Memorial Scholarship offers a $6,000 scholarship to at least five high school seniors in San Diego County each year. The 2022 Salute to the Champions is presented by the Robert & Lillie Breitbard Foundation and the Los Angeles Chargers.

It is our sincere hope that Covid numbers will subside by Spring 2022 so we are able to host a safe, enjoyable and festive celebration of San Diego's outstanding athletes and community champions. We will announce the new date as soon as possible. With Covid variant numbers on the rise and local case numbers expected to greatly spike near the date of our January event, we believe it best to err on the side of caution for the safety and wellbeing of everyone. After careful consideration and considerable thought and deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Salute to the Champions which was scheduled for January 25th until the Spring 2022.
